Headteacher's Welcome

On behalf of all our pupils, families, staff and governors, welcome to St Mary’s! Our children describe our school as determined, exciting and friendly. And we are!

As a staff team, we have high expectations of both ourselves and our children. We strive to meet the needs of each individual learner and empower them to aspire to more than their current potential by teaching them to have a growth mind-set. Our children are keen learners and ambitious to improve. As a result, our children consistently achieve scores which are above the national average.

We take childhood seriously! Children should be allowed to have fun and learn through new, first hand experiences. Our staff are keen to innovate in order to provide the best learning experience that we can through creative approaches to teaching and learning.

Our school community is a caring one: everyone is a vital part of our team! Our ethos is one which promotes the Christian values of love, honesty, courage, forgiveness and respect. Forgiveness is fundamental to the character of God. Therefore, we create an open and honest environment where people are encouraged to take risks, make mistakes and learn from them. Relationships with families are of the utmost importance to us in enabling all children to be the best they can possibly be. We believe that children learn best when families work in partnership with staff and take advantage of the opportunities we offer to be involved in school life.
