Welcome Letter

                                                                 September 2016

Dear Parents / Carers,

Welcome back! I hope that you have all had a lovely summer. With the start of the new school year I thought that I would welcome you and your child into their Year 3 class and let you know a little about what’s in store for the first half term.

This year I will be working alongside Mrs Gardner who is the LSA for Y3. She will also teach the class PE, ICT and music. We will be working towards completing the Archbishop of York award which Mrs Gardner will also lead. Mrs Derbyshire will teach the other PE session whilst I will cover all English, Maths, Science, Topic and RE lessons.

Year 3 children have P.E. on Tuesday and Friday this half term. They will be working on gymnastic skills with Mrs Gardner on Friday and will need plimsolls. Mrs Derbyshire will teach football skills on Tuesday and children may bring trainers to wear if the lessons are outside. Please ensure that ALL kit (and uniform) is labelled.

The children have received a reading book which they will be allowed to change at certain times during the school day. Please continue to enjoy reading together at home as much as possible. Listening to stories and reading other books of their own or from the local library is obviously invaluable.

The children will also be given spellings to learn that will be tested throughout the term. Tests will be on a Tuesday

This term, we will be having French lesson with Madame Teal.

I have enclosed a copy of the weekly timetable. Please remember that the timetable may change depending on what may be occurring within school.

Homework will usually be set on Friday and expected by the following Thursday. Please sign and use the homework diary as a means of communication if you wish. Should your child require any extra guidance or time with their homework you/they are welcome to ask but I would ask that this is done as early as possible.

Finally, the school days will be very busy, but hopefully exciting and stimulating for your child and I hope that they have a happy, hard-working and enjoyable year! If at any time you have concerns or queries please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours sincerely,

Sarah Annable

Year 3 Teacher
