I have been a governor at St. Mary’s for over three years and am also the Chair of Governors at Huthwaite All Saints Infant School. I've have found it fascinating to see how an academy functions as opposed to an local authority school. My background is in education and I was a secondary school teacher for over 26 years. I currently manage a community building.

Initially, I was asked to join the governing body when the school had a shortage of governors. Although they are both now adults, both of my children attended St. Mary’s and benefited from the education they received there. It has been a pleasure to be able give something back!

Currently, I am the governor responsible for Health & Safety. This involves making regular visits to the school to complete risk assessments with the Site Manager to ensure that the environment is as safe as possible for the children and staff.
