Martin Richardson - Pen Portrait

I have been a Parent Governor at St Mary's since November 2022, I joined because I like the school's values and they align with mine very well. My daughter Martha attends the school.

The role of being part of a governing body is holding the school to account and helping make decisions. I am responsible for checking on the school's teaching of modern foreign languages and that it aligns with the curriculum. Since joining I have had an accountability meeting with the language lead in the school, held parent feedback meetings and 1-1's. These help with the school's vision to further cement and build on the great relationships the parents have with the school. To further develop this I will make myself available at school pick up times on a monthly basis to parents.

In my spare time, apart from being an active dad, I am also active within the school by helping with walking to swimming once a week. I'm fairly active and like to walk long distances with our dog, cycle and swim, I also teach indoor cycling classes. I am currently chairperson at Ashfield Playcare Scheme too, which provides after school and holiday care for St Mary's and other local schools.
