Sports Mini Leaders

Ashfield School Sports Network is working with partner primary schools to deliver a Y5/6 Young Ambassador programme by initially providing training during the first half term of the new academic year. Young leaders will be trained to deliver competitions within their own school. The competitions start in October 2021. Each event will last for one month. All these competitions will be delivered in school using PE equipment and can take place in the hall or outside, at break or dinner time.

Pupils are given the opportunity to work towards achieving their personal best. Each pupil should set an initial level of performance and aim to improve during the month. Young Ambassadors can enter their results into an excel document to record performance across the whole school and enter their school into virtual district competitions. Results are sent to your SGO, Glynn Hall, who confirms details of how this will contribute to district competitions.

As well as these competitions young ambassadors can also set their own games and competitions, creating and explaining the rules themselves, recording the results and giving out certificates and prizes. Throughout the week leaders from Y5/6 are able to deliver activities to all year groups within the school.
